The Vocations Program™ is a real-world mentoring and vocational preparation program delivered inside operating community businesses—most commonly cafés.
It sits intentionally between traditional NDIS mentoring and formal employment programs, providing people with the opportunity to build confidence, capability, and a sense of contribution through genuine participation in a real workplace.
Rather than simulated training, The Vocations Program™ offers supported, hands-on experience—helping participants discover their capacity, develop practical skills, and grow into valued members of a team.

Confidence grows through contribution!
The Vocations Program™ is built on the understanding that many people develop best when they are:
The program focuses as much on self-esteem, social confidence, and belonging as it does on vocational skill development—because these foundations are essential for sustainable employment and independence.

The Vocations Program™ is delivered in partnership with local businesses that are willing to open their doors and offer a fair go.
Participants are supported by experienced Café Mentors and business teams while engaging in real tasks—such as food preparation, customer interaction, teamwork, and workplace routines.
Each participant moves at their own pace, with sessions structured to balance encouragement, challenge, and safety.
The experience is supported by structured goal-setting, regular feedback, and professional review—ensuring progress is visible and meaningful.
Step 1 — Goal Setting & Capacity Review
Participants are supported to clarify their goals, interests, and current capacity. This step helps ensure the experience is well-matched, realistic, and supportive—laying the groundwork for meaningful participation and growth.
Step 2 — Meet & Greet (20min)
A short, supported introduction at the workplace allows the participant and business to meet, connect, and get a feel for one another. This low-pressure visit helps build comfort, trust, and confidence before any work begins.
Step 3 — Trial Session (90min)
Participants take part in a structured, mentored session within the business. The focus is on participation, routine, and confidence-building—allowing both the participant and the business to assess fit in a supportive, real-world setting.
Step 4 — Internship (6 sessions over 6 weeks)
The internship phase provides consistent, supported exposure to the workplace. Across six weekly sessions, participants gradually build confidence, skills, and familiarity with routines, tasks, and teamwork.
Each session is guided by experienced mentors and supportive business teams, with flexibility to move at a pace that suits the participant.
Step 5— Progress Review
At the conclusion of the internship, a professional review captures progress, strengths, and areas for further development. This review is shared with the participant and their support network, helping inform next steps.
Step 6 — Continue or Transition
