What is Foundations for Thriving Kids™?
Foundations for Thriving Kids™ is a structured personal-development program designed to support children aged 5–8 with developmental delay or autism by strengthening the people and environment around them.
The child remains at the centre of the program — their voice, needs, strengths, and future.
At the same time, the program recognises that children grow best when the adults and siblings around them feel confident, connected, and supported.
Through guided conversations, reflection, and practical activities, Foundations helps families better understand the child’s world and take small, meaningful steps forward together.
It strengthens the foundation around the child so development can unfold more naturally.

Why Foundations for Thriving Kids™ works
Children with developmental delay or autism often rely on the consistency, understanding, and confidence of the adults around them.
Foundations helps families slow down and understand what the child is experiencing — what is working, what is challenging, and what support is needed.
Using guided weekly themes, the program creates safe space for the child’s needs to be explored while also supporting parents, carers, and siblings to reflect on their role in the child’s development.
Insights are gently captured and translated into small, achievable steps that can be practised in everyday family life.
The result is a structured process that strengthens the child’s development by strengthening the environment around them.
Who can deliver Foundations for Thriving Kids™?
Foundations for Thriving Kids™ is designed to be delivered by trusted adults already supporting the child, including:
- parents and carer
- support workers
- early childhood educators
- community and family workers
- peer facilitators
Because the program is conversation-based and structured through guided themes, no clinical expertise is required. The program has been created for delivery within the family unit itself, or via group settings by schools, family support organisations and community clubs .
This allows the child’s development to be supported consistently across home, community, and early-learning environments.
A TWO-PHASED PROGRAM, DESIGNED FOR REAL FAMILY LIFE
Phase 1 — Foundations: Roadmap™ (Explore | 10 weeks)
This phase focuses on understanding the child’s world within the family context.
Across ten actvitiy based modules, families work together to explore:
- the strengths and areas of challenge of all family members
- routines and relationships
- priorities for development for the impacted child
- the needs of all family members within this context
The process creates not only a Roadmap for the target child, but a whole Family Roadmap™, helping ensure the all voices are heard and all family members are supported.
Phase 2 — Foundations: Footsteps™ (Action | 10 weeks)
Using the whole family Roadmap as a guide, families begin taking small, practical steps (micro-goals) that lift all members and also support the child’s development.
These micro-goals might focus on routines, communication, independence, or confidence.
Progress builds gradually, helping both the child and family experience success together.
Not a One-Off: Built for Ongoing Growth
Children’s needs change as they grow, as do the needs of the greater family.
Foundations for Thriving Kids™ is designed to be revisited at different stages of development, helping families respond to new challenges, transitions, and opportunities.
Each cycle strengthens understanding, communication, and family confidence — creating a more stable environment for the child’s development.
Growth becomes shared and ongoing.
